Oak Openings Carbon Offset Fund

Question: How much carbon does an average U.S. resident produce?

Answer: In 2012, U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions were 20.8 metric tons of CO2.

Question:  How many trees would need to be planted to sequester one year’s worth of carbon for one person?  How much prairie would need to be planted to sequester one year’s worth of carbon for one person?

Answer:  For the average person, it would take 10 trees or 25 acres of prairie to sequester 1 year’s worth of carbon from CO2 emissions.

With the rise in awareness and concern about the effects of climate change, we encourage you to consider making a contribution to offset the carbon you produce.
